Today in class we discussed our field trip to PSII and talked about the Assessment Educational Competency.
We learned about how parents can request for anecdotal report cards and their children don’t need to receive the traditional letter grades and percentages. This was very surprising to me, but then I realized I kind of had these when I was in elementary school as well.
We got report cards that for every subject, it told us our strengths and weaknesses, but it also told us if we were meeting expectations. This was a way for them to kind of do anecdotal, with a little bit of the traditional ways as well. I remember being a lot less stressed because of this because I wasn’t getting a definite letter grade. I was being told what I did really well, and where I could improve on. This helped me understand where I needed to spend more time learning, and I found my parents relayed my report cards to me in a lot more intelligent manner.
